BREAKING NEWS

*Nice success for jazz and improvisation in the FRQSC (Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture) Research-creation support program competition. We have been awarded a very generous grant for a 3 year "Improvisation Workshop" project. This will allow us to experiment with a lot of ideas about collective improvisation and “in-the-moment” composition in a mid-sized ensemble.

*The video of my presentation for the Research Alive 2016-17 season is now available on the Schulich School of Music's YouTube channel. "Reinventing tradition: Theme and variations in improvisation." Watch here

*Jean-Michel is now Jazz Area Chair, Associate Professor of Jazz at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University in Montreal, QC, Canada.

He is also teaching a Seminar on improvisation in all styles to 30 McGill jazz and classical students.
